Searching for an idea for the Summer Challenge, I received a photo from Ian Cooke for his class, missed due to my vacation. The color of the mushrooms suggested Quinacridone Gold, which can vary from bright golden yellow to dark brown, depending on the density. It was then combined with the second color, Ultramarine Blue, to create the greens in the picture and enhance shadows.

The original photo of this scene displayed only three colors - blue, yellow, and green. Perfect, I thought! I used ultramarine blue and cadmium yellow light for my two colors and from these set out to make a series of different shades of greens. I was surprised how many greens I could formulate for the picture.
